well well well

ok so now I have a M.A.Ed and way better job offers since I went job hunting in 2009, so now I work at Austin Peay as a Multimedia Specialist and I also teach college 2 days a week at Aii. I finally have a little money back in the bank, the best wife I could ever dream off, a great house, no car payment, so pretty much everything I've been wanting since my late 20's. Only problem now is there is not enough time in the day. The day job is great but the teaching at night in Nashville can be stressful...but some of it is rewarding and I'm still learning how to be a professor. Hopefully I can teach at APSU in the spring to cut down on travel but the money is good right now. I want to get back in music but I am not sure who would be interested in forming a project. I know I have some good songs left in me and I probably wouldn't mind doing the coverband thing, but only if they are covers I like. I love my life and miss my friends and I never get to go out and see everyone as often as I would like but I am on the 9-5 schedule now. I still stay up too late and I am hardly ever rested but you take to good with the bad but over all I don't have too much to complain about.

Update completed

taa taa for now.

2010 Year in Review

So this year I moved in with my beautiful girlfriend.
-I quit my pest control job, started graduate school, started delivering pizzas again.
-Grandaddy passed away Easter weekend from cancer.
-Finished up my first semester, witnessed the 100 year flood.
-Went to Cincy with Kristen and stayed in room 1408 and it was creepy, saw an awesome Reds game and went to Ikea.
-Went to Bonnaroo with friends and the best performances I saw were from Kings of Leon, Tenacious D, Circa Survive, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, and Gwar.
-Got married in Vegas on 10/10/10 to Kristen because she makes everyday feel like heaven and its beautiful to find someone to share the world with you. It was the best trip I've ever taken and im glad we had friends there to experience it with us.
-Took a trip to Orlando with Kristen as a kinda honeymoon and we went to Universal (where I didn't have the greatest time thanks to my weak stomach lol) but got to hang with Joey and Robb for a bit before heading home.
-And now the holidays have passed and the new year is closing in and Im thankful for the changes that came into my life this year and the love that has changed my life.

Module 9

I was curious on finding a tutorial that involves extracting PDF's out of PowerPoint, since every time I try to do this it takes me way longer than it should. So I am going to review 3 results and pick the best one.

1. http://www.go2pdf.com/ppt-to-pdf.html

This was a straightforward numbered tutorial with only 1 visual example. I gave a method that I have not tried before and when I tried it I did not have "Virtual PDF Printer" option but I did have a PDF option in a box below so this tutorial was not accurate for me.

Next was the Microsoft Office tutorial help guide. No visual information but the step by step instructions worked as expected.

This tutorial was on About.com and it is visually the best of the three. There are step by step instructions but there are also 3 visual aids to guide the viewer through the process. This tutorial wins overall.

Slideboom upload

- Which version of the presentation do you think is a more effective teaching tool?
I think the audio enhanced the presentation of the PowerPoint but the visual aspect allows students to come up with their own conclusions.

- Did the images you originally selected convey messages or emotions that text cannot?
The sequence of images I selected for each slide, in my opinion, convey the message of time and give a good visual representation.

- How might students use the SlideBoom tool in their learning experiences?
SlideBoom would allow students to animate their PowerPoints into movies.

- How have these activities changed the way you will use PowerPoint in the future?
I make more video instruction than I do PowerPoint so I don't think it will change my usage because I never got into the habit of strictly using PowerPoints to relay information.

Since SlideBoom doesnt play embedded audio, I converted my presentation to a movie.

Vickie's New Thing #13

Flickr

Flickr is a great picture site. For someone looking for a visual representation of anything you can't really go wrong on this site. It would be great for an Internet scavenger hunt or lessons in photography or geography. An example I might use is find a picture that represent San Francisco, CA and I might come up with something like this picture.

Never rated before because I have used it so many times but after reviewing dozens of Web 2.0 sites the list grows smaller.
